Our Disney Getaway!

This week, Eric and I decided to take an impromptu Mini Getaway for three days. We packed our bags, ponchos, and backpack full of snacks, and drove the two short hours to the most Magical place on Earth... DISNEY WORLD!

Eric and I have had Annual Passes to Universal Studios in the past, since we are only a short drive away from Orlando, and after we cancelled our passes over a year ago, we had been wanting to take the plunge and get Annual Passes to Disney! yes, it is quite the investment, but living so close, we are planning on taking advantage of our NO BLACKOUT DATES, and enjoy the happiest place on Earth as often as possible.

We got to enjoy three out of four Disney Parks on our trip, and even after having been to Disney many, many times in my life, it was such an enjoyable experience to share with Eric. We did encounter rain on two out of three days, but with ponchos in hand, we braved the rain and stayed as dry as we could. Eric even put up with me wanting to take selfies at the monumental landmarks at each park we visited, which I appreciate very much. Thanks, babe!!

I wanted to share a few things I would recommend checking out if you're venturing to Disney World anytime soon:

Magic Kingdom:
  • Space Mountain. One of the best of the classic rides at MK. I would recommend trying your hand at getting a Fast Pass for this one, the line is brutally long, Eric and I waited a little over an hour for this one.
  • Under the Sea-Journey of The Little Mermaid. The Little Mermaid is by far my absolute favorite Disney movie, and I was so thrilled that Ariel is getting the recognition she deserves with a ride in FantasyLand. This slow-moving seashell, takes you Under the Sea to explore the story of Ariel's Journey to find love with Prince Eric. Of course it ends with a happy ending, but the music and beautifully bright colors of the friends you meet along the way, easily make this my favorite ride we went on.
  • Be Our Guest Restaurant. This was at the TOP of my list, and I had no clue people make reservations up to 6 MONTHS in advance. We got lucky and booked a reservation that day, after the nice lady at the gate wouldn't let us in and suggested we try our luck at finding a reservation since the weather was so terrible. The food however, was delicious, and the experience was top notch!

Animal Kingdom:
  • Kilimanjaro Safari. This open-air Safari jeep takes you on an adventure through the African-style savannah. You get to see tons of amazing animals, from Rhinos to Giraffes, Lions and Flamingos. It's truly a Magical Adventure you won't want to miss.
  • It's Tough to be a Bug. This 3D show is deep in the roots of The Tree of Life and features your bug host, Flick from Disney's "It's a Bug's Life". Being in the audience you become an honorary bug and get to see what it's like to be a bug. Super cute show, we enjoyed it.
  • Expedition Everest. Truly terrifying. End of story.

Epcot:
  • French Patisserie. So, I learned the hard way, but get to the French Pastry shop early if you want to take home some Macaroons. The day we went, we got there later in the afternoon and they were SOLD OUT. totally disappointing.
  • Spaceship Earth. Take a trip to the future in the park's iconic globe. This slow moving ride takes you from the past into today and then into the future. It's exciting to think about what the future might hold with amazing advances in technology.

Eric and I had so much fun on our trip to Disney World, we are excited to go back and explore more and more at each park. Even with a full day at each park we visited, we didn't do nearly as much as we wanted to! I am so excited to be a Disney Annual Pass holder, and to experience a Magical year with Disney!

xoxo.
